Customicro Clinical Services

Identification

Precision molecular diagnostics and Next Generation Multi-Omic testing to identify pathogens, map microbial communities, and guide targeted therapeutic strategies across our clinical services.

Partnering with specialized microbiological laboratories

Accurate identification of pathogens requires more than a standard culture. We partner with specialized microbiological laboratories that perform advanced molecular diagnostics, enabling precise detection of the organisms present in a clinical sample, their relative abundance, and the metabolic signals they produce. These partnerships allow us to move beyond empiric assumptions and ground every therapeutic recommendation in objective, organism-level data.

Our laboratory partners streamline the full testing and reporting workflow, from sample collection and processing to result interpretation and clinical flagging. Their infrastructure supports rapid turnaround of diagnostic results, which is critical when managing active or recurrent infections. Pharmacists at Customicro review each report in the context of the patient's clinical picture, identifying pathogenic organisms, assessing biofilm-forming potential, and noting metabolic markers that may indicate systemic involvement.

This collaborative model ensures that the expertise required to interpret complex microbiological data is applied consistently and rigorously. Rather than relying on a single diagnostic lens, our approach integrates laboratory findings with clinical context to support the development of a personalized TargetedRx strategy.

Next Generation Multi-Omic testing for the oral microbiome

Multi-omics is an advanced analytical approach that combines data from multiple biological layers simultaneously. Rather than examining a single dimension of microbial activity, it integrates genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and microbiomic data to produce a comprehensive picture of what is happening in the oral environment at a molecular level.

For the oral microbiome, this means identifying not just which organisms are present, but how they are behaving, what metabolic byproducts they are producing, and how those outputs are interacting with the host's biological processes. This level of resolution was previously unavailable in routine clinical settings. Recent advances in bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning have made it possible to distill this complexity into actionable clinical insights.

We utilize this multi-omic technology to support the identification and mapping of oral pathogens under the Oralrestore Clinical Service. The technology enables our pharmacists and partnering providers to move from broad-spectrum assumptions to organism-specific, metabolically-informed therapeutic strategies.

Five molecular layers of biological analysis

Multi-omic analysis draws from five distinct biological layers, each contributing a different dimension of information about the microbial and metabolic state of the oral environment.

Genomics

The complete set of genes present in a sample. Genomic analysis identifies which organisms are present and characterizes their genetic makeup, including resistance genes and virulence factors.

Transcriptomics

All RNA transcripts produced by the genome at a given moment. Transcriptomic data reveals which genes are actively being expressed, providing a real-time view of microbial activity.

Proteomics

The entire set of proteins expressed by an organism. Proteomic analysis identifies the functional molecules being produced, offering insight into the biological processes currently underway.

Metabolomics

The complete set of small-molecule metabolites present in a sample. Metabolomic data captures the downstream outputs of microbial activity, including compounds that can disrupt host physiology or signal systemic involvement.

Microbiomics

The collective genomes of the microbial community. Microbiomic analysis maps the full ecosystem of organisms present, their relative abundances, and the interactions between species within the oral environment.

Multi-Omic Integration

When these five layers are analyzed together, the result is a comprehensive molecular profile that supports organism-specific, metabolically-informed clinical decision-making rather than empiric or assumption-based therapy.

Metabolomics-informed diagnostics for the oral environment

Metabolomics captures the small-molecule metabolites produced by microbial activity in the oral environment. These metabolites are the downstream outputs of gene expression and protein function, making them among the most clinically relevant signals available. When pathogenic organisms are active in the oral cavity, their metabolic byproducts can disrupt host tissue, promote inflammation, and contribute to systemic conditions that extend well beyond the mouth.

By incorporating metabolomic data into the diagnostic process, we are able to identify not just the organisms present, but the functional state of the microbial community. This distinction matters clinically: two patients with the same organisms may have very different metabolic profiles, and those differences can guide meaningfully different therapeutic approaches.

Pathogen activity mapping

Metabolomic data reveals which organisms are metabolically active, not merely detectable, allowing therapy to target the organisms driving the clinical picture.

Systemic signal detection

Certain oral metabolites are associated with systemic inflammatory pathways. Identifying these signals supports a more complete understanding of how oral dysbiosis may be affecting broader health.

Treatment response monitoring

Metabolomic profiles can shift in response to therapy, providing an objective basis for evaluating whether a targeted intervention is achieving the intended effect.
